About Citemark
Citemark is a Generative Engine Optimization and Answer Engine Optimization agency in Bengaluru, founded in 2026. Its founder, Shoaib Mustaque, has run search campaigns since 2013. It grew out of an engineering studio whose clients kept asking to be found in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews — we did it, it worked, and we made it the whole company.
The story
Why we made search the whole company
We built software for 20+ startups. Clients started asking us to get them into ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews. We did, it worked, and we realised the thing we'd been doing since 2013 had just become the most valuable thing we do. So we made it the company.
The name is the promise. A citation mark — [1] — is what we are paid to earn: your brand named as the source in the answer, not listed somewhere underneath it.

How we work
Three things we are, one list of things we aren't
Every page on this site carries at least one of the three. The list of what we won't do is shorter and firmer.
Engineers, not just marketers
Most of what makes a page citable is technical. We fix rendering, schema and indexing in your codebase, the week we find the problem.Search since 2013
The discipline predates the acronyms. Measure, fix, publish, measure again — now across six engines instead of one.Proof over promises
A monthly report with a screenshot behind every number, a published timeline, and no guaranteed rankings or citations from anyone here.
What we don’t do
- Guarantee a ranking or a citation
- Buy links
- Publish anything without a named author and a date
- Lock clients into long contracts
- Resell a tool's dashboard as a strategy
