Getting started
How do I check what AI says about my business?
Ask the engines the way a buyer would — “best [category] in Bangalore”, “[brand] reviews”, “[category] near [area]” — in ChatGPT with search on, Perplexity, Gemini and Google, from a fresh session, and note whether you’re named and who is cited instead. Repeat monthly with the same prompts; the trend matters more than any single answer.

Build a prompt set, not a keyword list
Ten prompts is enough to start: the category plus city, the category near two or three areas, “how to choose” and “what does it cost” questions, your brand name with “reviews” and “alternatives”, and one or two problem-shaped questions a buyer would type. Write them the way people talk, not the way you’d search.
Run it cleanly
Use a fresh chat with memory off or a logged-out session where the engine allows it, turn search on in ChatGPT, and run from the city you care about. Record the full answer, the businesses named, and every cited URL. Run each prompt twice; answers vary, and the second run tells you how stable a citation is.
What to record
Three columns per prompt and engine: named (yes/no), cited (your URL or not), and who else — with the source domains. Over months this becomes a share-of-answer number against named competitors, which is the only GEO metric worth putting in front of a board.
