How long does GEO take to show results?
First citations for specific, low-competition prompts usually appear 2–8 weeks after the fixes go live — Perplexity first, ChatGPT once Bing has re-crawled, Google AI Overviews as organic rankings move. Competitive “best X in Bangalore” prompts take 6–12 months. Anyone quoting faster for competitive prompts is guessing.

Why the engines move at different speeds
Perplexity retrieves from the live web, so it reflects a change within days. ChatGPT search depends on Bing’s crawl cycle plus OpenAI’s own crawler, so it follows in weeks. Google AI Overviews are built from Google’s rankings, so they move only as fast as your organic positions do.
What makes it faster
Bing indexing with IndexNow on day one, a single consistent entity across every profile, and answer-first pages that an engine can quote whole. Those three are mostly technical, which is why an engagement with engineers front-loads them.
What makes it slower
Contradictory profiles, client-rendered pages that crawlers receive empty, and the absence of any independent mention. Competitive prompts are slow because the engines already have sources they trust for them; displacing one takes mentions, not just pages.
